Subject: [MSMARSHA-L] Tabors, Marshall County
Does anyone know of any will for John H. Tabor in Marshall County? He was on the 1860 census with wife, Nancy, daughter, Nancy D. (Adelia), and son Thad. That's the last trace of John and Thad. Nancy Adelia married John C. Richardson in Ashley County, AR, in 1870; was widowed, then married Wm. B. Harvill in Drew County. Nancy died in Drew County, AR, in 1879. I am seeking proof that Mary Tabor Harvill was a daughter of this couple. Would appreciate any help. Alice in KY

Hi Suzy! I'm still looking for my Mary M. TABOR's parents. She was born MS about 1836; married in Marshall County, Aug. 23, 1853 to John F. Harvill. Nancy Adelia TABOR, whom I believe to be her sister, moved to Ashley County, AR, where my Mary lived, and married John C. Richardson in 1870; was widowed, and married second William B. Harvill, nephew of my great-grandfather, John F. I just feel they had to be sisters, but I can't prove it. They are not on ANY 1850 census that I can find. Nancy is on the 1860 Marshall County census with John H. TABOR, father, and Nancy Orr TABOR, mother. No further trace of this family is found. I would so greatly appreciate ANY information about them! Alice Lee, P.O. Box 636, Cave City, KY 42127

Subject: [HOBBS] Looking for info/descendants of Robert Hobbs of Griffin, GA Hi, My GGGrandfather was Robert Hobbs of Griffin, Spaulding County, Georgia. He had three children. Sara Elissa, my Great Grandmother married Luther Boynton and lived in Sunnyside, GA. His son, Robert, was killed in a Saturday night bar fight on 6/12/1880. The other daughter was Rebecca. I have information that he was married to Johannah Kilgore on 6/24/1849 in Pike City, GA., but am not sure this is correct. Would appreciate any further information.

James Emerson moved from Covington, Tennessee to Cleborne, Texas in 1878. Then moved to Hunt Co., Texas 1892. Also heard that New Mexico's Hobbs Co. is named after this branch of the family... not verified yet.
This info from diary of spouse of James Robert Curtis Adair, 6th child. Margaret "Minnie" Lankford.
I know nothing else about Martha Edna Hobbs but what I received from 1880 Precinct 5, Johnson, Texas. page 354c.

To be brief Curtis Caldwell married Sarah Fondren, daughter Mary M Caldwell married Robert Hobbs; son Isham Hobbs married Martha Lankford; daughter Meron Hobbs married William Samuel Moore; daughter Mary Melinda Moore married Charles Douglas Massey, daughter Flora Bell Massey. I didn't put all the childrens names because it gets confusing, Mary, Martha and Meron are very common names in this group. For example, Mary Lankford married Nathan Augustus Hobbs and Martha Lankford married Isham Hobbs. Martha had 2 daughters one by the name of Meron and one by the name of Martha and Mary Merion Caldwell married Robert L Hobbs. I have some information on this group, I have had problems trying to research Isham Hobbs and his children all I could find were three, Meron, Martha and one son. Would appreciate any assistance.

The Nelsons are my husbands family and they aren't from the south. The Caldwell I'm searching is John Caldwell of Paulding County and Gwinnett County, GA. His father is Curtis C. Caldwell of Gwinnett County, GA, formerly of SC. Curtis C. Caldwell was married to Sarah and left a will in Paulding County although I don't think he was living there. Curtis and Sarah are 80's on the 1850 Gwinnett County Census. Think there's a connection? Elizabeth (Betty) Nelson

Saw your posting about Mary Hobbs, I have some Hobbs not of afro/american desent, but they had slaves listed in their wills. I hope I don't offend you, but this is part of Curtis Caldwell's estate. The Caldwell's, Lankford's and Hobb's are related and intermarried into each family. If I find anything I will let you know, but orginally the Hobbs's spelled their name Hobs, also they were from Va, NC, SC, and GA.
